Questions

ITIN questions, answered.

What is an ITIN, and who needs one?
An ITIN is an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number the IRS issues to people who need to file taxes but aren't eligible for a Social Security number. It's used for filing returns, not for work authorization or benefits.
Do I need an ITIN to file taxes?
If you need to file a U.S. tax return but aren't eligible for a Social Security number, then yes — you need an ITIN. We prepare your Form W-7 and file it together with your return so you stay compliant with the IRS.
Can I file taxes without a Social Security number?
Yes. With an ITIN you can file your federal tax return even without a Social Security number. Many of our clients file every year using their ITIN, and we walk you through the whole process in Spanish or English.
Can I get a tax refund with an ITIN?
Yes. If taxes were withheld from your pay or you qualify for certain credits, you can receive a refund by filing your return with your ITIN. We review your situation to make sure you claim everything you're entitled to.
How do I submit my documents to the IRS?
ITIN applications require proof of identity and foreign status. We prepare your application and walk you through your options for submitting documents — including certified copies from the issuing agency or an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center — so you can choose what's most comfortable.
How long does it take to get an ITIN?
IRS processing times vary, and are usually several weeks — longer during peak tax season. Filing correctly the first time is the best way to avoid delays and rejections.
Can my family apply at the same time?
Yes. We handle spouses and dependents together in one appointment, prepare each W-7, and file them alongside your return.
Do you work in Spanish?
Completely. Your entire appointment, document review, and every form explanation can be in Spanish or English — whichever is most comfortable.
